Sony’s a company who needs no introduction to the E3 stage. While Microsoft are seemingly locked in an uphill battle to justify the continued existence of the Xbox One, Sony’s used every E3 since 2013 to outdo themselves with an unbelievably consistent 1st party lineup. It’s almost hard to believe, but E3 2017 winners God of War, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, the Shadow of the Colossus remake, Detroit: Become Human, and of course, Knack 2 have all been released since last year’s show. I think it’s also safe to say that with perhaps one exception, all of those released to critical, and commercial acclaim.
Alas, it’s a new year, E3 2018 is upon us once again, and yet another opportunity to stoke the flames of the console wars for the months to come. Titles whose release are right around the corner like Spider-Man and Days Gone are sure to make an appearance, while Kojima is certain to Kojima all over us in the most obtuse ways with even more Death Stranding. The Last of Us Part II is a given, if Neil Druckmann’s enthusiastic, occasionally cryptic tweets are any indication:

Opposite those, what else do we have? Destiny 2: Forsaken is sure to make an appearance and show off its platform exclusive content, Red Dead Redemption 2 was also suspiciously absent from Microsoft’s show, making a new trailer here all but unlikely. Bluepoint game have also stated that they’re working on their “biggest” project yet, leading from wild speculation about what that title could be, from Metal Gear Solid to Demon’s Souls. Speaking of remakes, Capcom’s been pretty mum on the state of the Resident Evil 2 remake, and Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 revamp could stand to have some light shed on it as well.
With so much potentially on the table, it’s sure to be an interesting next two hours, for sure. Join us, as we bear witness to Sony’s conference in full Liveblog mode, live from the conference, at 9pm!
