Flying Lotus has spoken. Usually when he does, it’s worth listening to in the same way it bears importance whenever Prince decides to tweet–for someone who generally lets their records and art do the talking, there’s no reason not to stop and listen.
The sometimes evil Captain Murphy, other times transcendent ambassador of the Brainfeeder label and the very reason you stop channel surfing whenever Adult Swim’s title cards are on display, has an annoucement. His latest news? That would be his finally exiting the lab to announce a date for his followup to 2012’s When The Quiet Comes. After much teasing, the upcoming album’s name is You’re Dead, and will be releasing October 7th in the US, and the 6th in the UK, right in the middle of his current tour.
Well worth the wait? It remains to be seen, but given his track record, we have no reason to doubt. Reportedly, the new album will have more of a jazz feel, and given that he and Herbie Hancock have been hanging out, there’s PLENTY of reason to suspect that this may be his best yet.
A list of his concert dates were also posted to his Instagram, viewable below:
For a more legible version not wrapped in crazed psychedelia, and with workable ticket order links, his official site is the place to go.
(Maybe I’m fibbing slightly about the visuals, but can you expect anything less from FlyLo? His concerts are beyond dope, and house-shakingly insane. Like twerking from the rafters while headbanging-level insane. We’ve been.)
